Congratulations to our staff-nominated Stars of CAHS Award winner for the second quarter of 2020, Vicky Burke!

Vicky is a Registered Nurse in the Casual Pool at PCH and her nomination is quite a story...

"Vicky stopped to help a man on the grass between PCH and the car park who did not appear to be well. She rolled him into the coma position and sat with him checking on him while others came and went from the scene or stood back at a distance. Someone went for assistance and an ambulance crew came with a gurney to take him to Emergency as Sir Charles Gairder Hospital. What I witnessed was someone who took ownership of the situation.

Her body language showed care and compassion and she did not leave his side until he was wheeled away. It’s easy for someone to walk by and to not be involved, but not her. She could have been heading home or just been on a shift break, I don’t know. What I witnessed was Vicky stepping up and being counted.

She won’t seek any applause but she deserves acknowledgement."

Thank you Vicky and congratulations!

Thanks to our generous sponsors HESTA and the Perth Children's Hospital Foundation.
