The acutely swollen joint guideline follows the evidence-based guidelines from the National Paediatric Improvement Collaborative (PIC).

Allied Health considerations

If Complex Regional Pain Syndrome suspected and referral for Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy required, please refer to Rheumatology first who will facilitate Allied Health referrals.

The guideline should be used in conjunction with local policies and guidelines pertinent to the management of the acutely swollen joint in your health service.
